TLDR Review: Samsung 65" U7900F Series 4K Smart TV (2025)
Verdict
If you want superb picture quality in a straightforward 65-inch UHD 4K Smart TV with solid build and a decent smart experience, the Samsung UN65U7900FFXZA hits the mark. However, if your setup involves gaming with a soundbar or you need multiple HDMI and USB inputs, be warned: the HDMI eARC issues and limited ports will drive you bonkers. For gamers or multi-device users, considering alternatives from LG or Sony with better audio handling and more flexible connectivity might save you some serious frustration. This Samsung bundle, though well-built and visually impressive, is best suited for users with simpler AV needs and a focus on movies and streaming rather than gaming or complex device setups.
- Top pro:
- Produces very good picture quality, delivering vibrant UHD 4K visuals suitable for movies and general viewing.
- Top con:
- HDMI eARC implementation is problematic, causing frequent audio dropouts and soundbar disconnections when using both a soundbar and a gaming console.
Pros
- •Produces very good picture quality, delivering vibrant UHD 4K visuals suitable for movies and general viewing.
- •Easy to set up with intuitive Tizen OS smart features.
- •Excellent build and overall performance quality reflecting Samsung’s reliable craftsmanship.
- •Bundled with a Deco Gear 6ft HDMI cable and a 26-month protection pack, adding value and peace of mind.
Cons
- •HDMI eARC implementation is problematic, causing frequent audio dropouts and soundbar disconnections when using both a soundbar and a gaming console.
- •Requires full power cycles and constant cable reseating to temporarily fix audio issues after switching inputs.
- •Multiple troubleshooting steps like toggling Input Signal Plus, Anynet+, and resetting the soundbar do not reliably resolve audio problems.
- •Only one HDMI input severely limits connecting multiple devices simultaneously, which is surprising for a flagship 65-inch TV.
- •Just one USB input further restricts media playback and peripheral options.
- •Lacks ROKU compatibility and some smart platform alternatives, which may put off users wanting that ecosystem.
- •Not recommended for gamers, especially those using soundbars, due to unreliable audio and input switching behavior.
- •Limited connectivity is a significant downside for users with multiple devices or complex setups.
